The Burnham Barometer

Privacy

What we collect. Only your score. We never ask for your name, phone number or email.

Stopping repeat votes. To keep it fair we do three things:

1. We put a small cookie on your device that says "this device has voted". It holds a random code, nothing about you, and lasts 8 days. It is needed to keep the vote fair, so we don't ask for cookie consent.

2. We turn your internet connection address into a scrambled code that changes every week. We never store the address itself, and the code is deleted after 8 days.

3. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is voting. Cloudflare may handle that check in the United States, under the UK–US data bridge.

Why we may do this. Our legitimate interest in running a fair vote. Your score is never linked to your device or connection: we only keep totals.

Where it is kept. On servers in the UK and EU, run by Vercel and Upstash for us.

Your rights. You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing anthony.lawton@ffmi.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Who runs it. Front Foot MI Ltd, trading as Fit to Care, Park House, 2 Park View, Gatley, Stockport, SK8 4BL.
